NGO of the year : 25th National Real Estate Awards

This year a new category is been introduced. NGOs are working selflesslessly and their yeomen service to homeless needs to be recognised. Ms. Shabana Azmi along with Shri P Das to receive Award for NGO of the year.
Nivara Hakk the NGO she have been working with for the last 25 years , has resettled 40 000 slumdwellers who were living in the National Park free of cost in a tripartite agreement between The Govt of Maharashtra, a private builder Sumer Corporation and us. It was a very long and laborius process.Struggle is a very important part of Housing Rights. Anna Kurien ( who unfortunately has passed away) Gurbir Singh and PK Das have faced bulldozers, brutal lathi charges leading to hospitalisation, have spent nights in police custody for the Chandivli Project, to give the slumdwellers their rights.
