MCHI’s ‘Official Property Show’ to be held in Dubai, Crowne Plaza, Deira, Dubai from Jan 12 – 14, 2011

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industry (MCHI), the representative body of developers and builders from Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) is organizing its Property Show – arguably, India’s only official Property show – in Dubai, U.A.E. from January 12 – 14, 2012.
MCHI’s India Realty Expo, 2012 – Dubai aims at providing a safe and secure platform to the expatriate Indians as they explore the vast opportunities available in the Indian real estate industry, especially in Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). Leading developers will participate, showcasing residential and commercial properties, plots and bungalows from across the MMR as also Mumbai’s nearby locations, said Mr. Paras Gundecha, President, MCHI. “MCHI has set up a Consumer Grievance Cell, this will add to the ‘safe and secure’ aspect of buying property for expatriate Indians at MCHI’s India Realty Expo, 2012 – Dubai,” he added. “This initiative is expected to make buying at MCHI’s India Realty Expo, 2012 – Dubai a truly safe and secure experience,” he added.
Largely, NRIs buying Indian property have concerns about timely possession of the home booked as also getting all amenities and facilities as per the agreement signed. In a move that will re-assure property buyers from the G.C.C. and the U.A.E. at MCHI’s India Realty Expo, 2012 – Dubai, MCHI will ensure that participating developers sign ‘A Mandate of Assurance’, effectively promising home buyers at the event that they will deliver what has been promised, said Boman Irani.
Dubai being the leading location in the U.A.E. for holding Indian Property Shows has been the deciding factor in making it the perfect venue for this property exhibition. Also, its location would give greater accessibility to Indians living in other parts of the G.C.C. to visit this exhibition as well.
The MCHI President said, “With the current scenario as regards global currency markets, expatriate Indians will find buying Indian property extremely lucrative. The international real estate market had a weak third quarter of 2011, according to the latest survey of world-wide house price indices prepared by the Global Property Guide. During the year to end Q3 2011, house prices fell in 25 countries, of the 44 countries for which quarterly house price statistics are available, and rose in only 19 countries.
Moreover, 26 housing markets performed more poorly during the year to the third quarter than last year, while only 18 countries performed better.
The Global Property Guide’s statistical presentation uses price-changes after inflation, giving a more realistic picture than the more upbeat nominal figures usually preferred by real estate agents.
The most remarkable this quarter is the wide variety of outcomes:
India and Brazil’s housing markets have continued their spectacular outperformance, with Delhi house prices up 22.68% during the year to Q3 2011, according to National Housing Bank (NHB) figures. There were strong house price increases in almost all India’s major cities, reflecting the country’s current high rate of consumer price inflation, despite a drop in demand resulting from the repo rate hike in October (currently at 8.50%), the 13th since March 2010, making home loans costlier.
The NHB Residex only started publishing quarterly figures in 2010; from 2008 to 2009, the Residex was updated semi-annually.
Brazil’s Sao Paolo had the second highest house price rise in the world during the third quarter, with house prices up 5.88% during the quarter, according to the FIPE- Zap price index. Sao Paolo had an astonishing year, with house prices up 20.26% during the year to Q3 2011. The country is experiencing an unprecedented boom, not least because it is the host country for the World Cup in 2014 and the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
Europe’s housing markets mixed
The world’s second strongest quarter-on-quarter house price rise occurred in an unexpected city -Vienna, where house prices surged by 5.44% during the quarter (and +4.25% on the year), continuing 6 years of nearly unbroken price rises for Austria’s capital.
