For last couple of years public interest in Vastu Shastra is increasing steadily. New professionals under the name & style of – “Vastu Shastra Experts” are advertising for consultancy regularly. Articles in news papers, work shops and lectures, for and against “Vastu Shastra”, are creating lot of confusion; as the experts are trying to prove their own view points contradicting each other. Pro group call “Vastu Shastra – a – Ancient Science” when others call it “Vastu Jotish-a conviction without scientific base”. It is also seen that there are opposite norms in “Vastu Shastra” in two different countries, when human beings are same on any part of the planet.

“Andha Shradha Nirmulan Samittee” have published a Book known as “Bramak Vastushashtra” in reply to various pro publications on subject wherein they are trying to prove that the subject is out-dated and do not have any scientific base or significance thereof. Vis-à-vis “Vastu Shastra Experts” stand by to their theory and advocate the pros & cons of Vastu Shastra.

Since construction of own house is a “dream” of every common man, he is bound to be touchy in such situations and will try to turn every stone possible. In such situations professionals in building industry, are equally in two minds, some time helpless; and facing difficulties in giving guidance on the subject to their confused clients.

It is seen that people are demolishing parts of newly constructed premises, changing compound gates, entrances, and making additions or alterations suitable to the requirements of “Vastushastra” thereby incurring huge expenses; and facing inconvenience inspite of no body is sure about its permanent benefits or effects.

History shows that the structures constructed strictly in conformity with Vastu Shastra had not given any extraordinary fortunes or special benefits to its occupants. They were also living same normal life compared to others.

It is a fact that in multi ownership apartment buildings it is not at all possible to construct each & every flat or room strictly as per the norms of “Vastu Shastra”; In comparison we are ignoring the fact that old buildings, for example, particularly in Kalbadevi, Bhuleshwar, Girgaon etc. of early twenties or thirties constructed without any “Vastu Shastra” norms, people residing there, are living normal life for decades without any significant adverse effects.

Even though rigid convictions always over power human beings in all aspects of life, but in reality we are always reluctant to accept any thing unless it is proved scientifically. As such Vastu Shastra should not be singled out.

Every one knows that proper and timely maintenance of body gives good health whereas sincere hard work leads to prosperity and wealth. Reasonably educated man should not find it difficult to take appropriate decisions with clarity.

With the passage of time, life is changing very fast due to social and economic reforms. With scientific answers, the rigid convictions are either getting diluted or deleted day by day. Advance technologies are giving more clarity to every one; with the result it is possible for any one to examine the proofs or convictions fairly on his own.

This writing is not aiming or advocating either for or against the “Vastu Shastra”, as the subject will remain ever debatable, but for to suggest that one should be very clear
in his mind as to what is honestly acceptable to him, and I am sure that ultimately self clarity will be the “only answer”, which may eliminate confusions, to some extent.
