A Conference and Exhibition on “Eco-Housing”
Honourable Chief Minister, Mr.Ashok Chavan, to inaugurate
Nobel Laureate Dr.R.K.Pachauri to participate
Mumbai, February 12, 2010 – The Government of Maharashtra and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) have joined hands to present a Conference and an Exhibition on “Eco-Housing” on February 16, 2010 at Nehru Centre, Worli, Mumbai. The 3-session programme will be inaugurated by the Honourable Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mr.Ashok Chavan at 10 a.m.
Participating in the inaugural session will be Honourable Minister for Public Health and Environment Mr.Suresh Shetty; Honourable Minister of State for Urban Development Mr.Bhaskar Jadhav; Honourable Minister of State for Housing and Environment Mr.Sachin Ahir; the Chief Secretary to the Government of Maharashtra Mr.J.P.Dange; the Metropolitan Commissioner Mr. Ratnakar Gaikwad and the Principal Secretary, Urban Development Department Mr.T.C.Benjamin.
While there will be many an eminent and distinguished speakers participating in the Conference, the presence of the Nobel Laureate Dr.R.K.Pachauri is sure to take the cake. Dr.Pachauri is the Chairman of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the Director General of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI).
The other renowned participants in the first session – “Existing Frameworks”, chaired by Mr.Swadheen Kshatriya, Municipal Commissioner, MCGM – are Mr.Prasad Modak, Environment Management Centre (EMC); Ms.Malini Shankar, Secretary, Water Supply and Sanitation Department, GoM; Mr.Rakesh Kumar, Head, Mumbai Zonal Laboratory, National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) and Ms.Brinda Ayer from International Institute of Energy Conservation (IIEC).
The prominent speakers in the second session – “Green Building Interventions Today”, chaired by Mr.Ratnakar Gaikwad, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA – are Ms.Roshni Udyavar, HOD, Institute of Environmental Architecture, Rachna Sansad; Mr.Sen Kapadia, former Director of Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute of Architecture and Environmental Studies, Mumbai and Mr.Vimal Shah, Managing Director, Ackruti City Limited.
Presenting the third session – “Energy, Water and Waste”, chaired by Mr.A.K.Jain, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister – will be Mr.Manu Kumar Srivastava, Secretary, Urban Development Department; Ms.Seema Redkar, OSD, ALM, MCGM, Ms.Suprabha Marathe, RWH Cell, MCGM and Mr.H.H.Patil, Manager, Environment and Energy Efficiency, Maharashtra Energy Development Agency.
