CM will inaugurate City’s longest flyover on Monday

Travel from CST to Sion in 25 minutes! Avoid 7 vehicular and 2 pedestrian signals

Mumbai – The Honourable Chief Minister Mr.Prithviraj Chavan will inaugurate city’s longest 2.45 km Bharatmata-Lalbaug flyover on Monday. The flyover will be the fourth flyover on Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Road affording freewheeling movement to traffic during busy hours. The flyover will help you reach Sion from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus within a mere 25 minutes. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority has already thrown open three other flyovers on this road at Maheshwari Udyan-Tulpule chowk, Sion Hospital and Hindamata Junction.
“The MMRDA has been planning and coordinating developmental projects, which focus not only on promoting growth and progress of the city but also on ensuring a more comfortable life for its citizens”, said Honourable Chief Minister Mr.Prithviraj Chavan on the eve of the inauguration. “The challenge of meeting the expectations of an ever growing city is something MMRDA is committed to. I am sure, the citizens of Mumbai will get the quality of life they deserve very soon”, he said further.
“The 4-lane and rupees 150 crore Bharatmata-Lalbaug flyover will help vehicle owners avoid 7 vehicular and 2 pedestrian signals. And the four flyovers together on the Dr.Ambedkar Road will enable them to avoid in all 18 signals”, informed Mr.Rahul Asthana, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA.
The MMRDA has, till today, thrown open flyovers at Dindoshi, Thakur Complex, Malad Junction, Domestic Airport, Navghar Junction, Maheshwari Udyan-Tulpule Chowk, Sion Hospital and Hindamata Junction. All these flyovers are part of the 11-flyover programme taken up under the Mumbai Urban Infrastructure Project. With this, 9 out of the 11 flyovers have been opened for traffic.
