DCR is soon applicable in 22 cities of Maharashtra

Mumbai: The state government had given directives under the provisions of section 154 of Maharashtra Region & Town Planning Act 1966 to all Municipal Councils to, adopt the Standardized Building bye-laws and Development Control Rules for A, B and C class municipal councils. Whereas, state government has sanctioned several development plans without modifications in DCR rules. And soon will come into force with various dates as mentioned in the schedule A. The existing Development Control Regulations (DCR) of the said planning authorities need overall changes because of rapid urbanization and the concepts like FSI, TDR, Specific land uses and regulations which support developments like generation of parking area, creation of more built-up area for Hospitals, Education Institutions, Star Category Hotels, Institutional Buildings, development of more housing stock through MHADA, provision of proper infrastructure, eco-friendly building criteria, height of building commensurate with fire fighting facilities etc. need to be included in the existing Development Control Regulations of smaller town.
The committee held several discussion and meetings at Divisional places like Nagpur, Amravati, Aurangabad, Mashik, Navi Mumbai and Pune to bring about stakeholders participation along with The Presidents and Chief Officers of the municipal councils, practicing architects, engineers and builders in those regions, engineers working in local bodies, officer of the Town Planning Department and considered their expectations from DCR.

Ratnagiri: Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Khed, Rajapur
Sindhudurg: Malvan, Vengurla, Sawantavadi, Kankavali
Thane: Ambarnath, Kuigaon-Badalapur, Jawhar, Umarpada-Safala
