DDA announces flats for economically weaker sections

The Delhi Development authority has inaugurated bunch of 60flats for the economically weaker sections (EWS) in Dwarka with much gaudy outward display on Monday.
This is the first time DDA is coming up wit prefabricated technology to construct these housing units. The technology comprises use of precast columns, beams, slabs, staircases, and the flats are assembled at the site itself.
The authority has announced to build 2400 housing units which will come up in Dwarka Sector 23, however 11,060 housing units are coming up in Rohini and 6,580 in Narela using this technology, work for which is under way. The total cost has been pegged at Rs 762.3 crore and the project is expected to be completed by October 2013.
Kamal Nath Union Cabinet Minister of Urban Development was the chief guest at the event appreciated the affordable housing and expecting from DDA 1Lakh affordable houses per year for economically weaker sections (EWS).
