GoM and MMRDA asks MMOPL to expedite Metro Line – I work

Mumbai, March 30, 2011: The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) along with Mr T C Benjamin, Principal Secretary, Urban Development, Government of Maharashtra, reviewed the progress work of the Mumbai Metro One Private Limited in a Board of Directors meeting held today.
Mr Rahul Asthana, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA, said, “The works of both bridges are the crucial parts left in the project. We have completed our tasks and MMOPL has been handed over the entire RoW. We are expecting that the set time-lines would be met without anymore hurdles.” The Metropolitan Commissioner also reviewed the progress of Metro Line II (Charkop Bandra Mankurd).
As per the project report furnished by MMOPL, about 70 per cent of overall work is completed and 90 per cent of foundation work is completed. The other issues like civil works, systems, station works, Metro depot etc and time lines pertaining to the project were discussed at the meeting.
The MMOPL officials clarified that the bridges at Andheri railway station and at the Western Express Highway were the crucial parts of the project. Mr Asthana also instructed MMOPL to complete the respective project works within the time frame. He further said, “The piling works and piling caps at Andheri are to be completed before monsoon. The pier work and super structure work is expected to be completed by the month of November 2011.”
