By Pallavii Pitale

Almost bio degradable , ‘Green ‘ villas can now be made to order.

Well known Interior designer, Pinakin Patel, who has come up with the concept, shall make these villas on demand for the clients. It is a limited edition design restricted to only 25 no.s. A new design of a villa shall be introduced after the first edition.

Mr. Patel owns a studio in Alibaug, and has completed 25 yrs in the creative field. In this silver jubilee year, the studio has launched this innovative and green product which is made available at the cost of Rs. 4500/- per sq.ft.

‘Hara Villa’ as the product is known, is an environment friendly villa which does not require a concrete base or a foundation and can be built easily on a plot or land or even on a terrace of an existing structure. With an area of about 650 sq. ft. that includes a bedroom, a small kitchenette and a bathroom, covering upto 325 sft. and an outer deck made in wood and a sit-out with a pergola covering another 325 sft.

In spite of the Villa being environment friendly, no compromises are made as far as the comfort and aesthetics are concerned . Though the design is truly nature friendly, the villa takes care of most of the basic modern amenities such as complete electrification, Air conditioning, and is equipped with furniture, fittings, kitchen equipments and accessories, electronic equipments like TV, Music system, Computer along with broadband internet facility and the furnishings like bed linens, crockery, art and other related accessories.

The fittings and fixtures that are used here are environment friendly such as LED and CFL lamps that are highly energy efficient. The electrical network can work on the electricity or on solar power and also has an inverter backing.

The bathrooms here are with bucket baths and not with shower. The wash basins and the flushes are also set to consume less amount of water.

The walls, roof, flooring and bathrooms are made from local timber along with some amount of stone panelling used to add a rustic look . Due to the thermal insulation property of wood, it remains cooler in summers and warmer in winters.

In it’s true sense the Hara villa is simply an extension of the inner space to the outer one which gives a chance to become one with nature without compromising on the urban lifestyle.
