India Parliament goes Green: 80 KwP Commissioned by Lanco Solar

Hon’ble speaker, Lok Sabha inaugurates solar power plant to lit up Heart of India’s democracy
New Delhi: Lanco Solar, a fully owned subsidiary of Lanco Infratech Limited – the fastest growing business conglomerates in India has announced that 80KwP Grid Connected Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant at the Parliament House Complex commissioned by Lanco Solar today Inaugurated by Smt. Meira Kumar Hon’ble Speaker, Lok Sabha, In the presence of Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Hon’ble Union Minister for New & Renewable Energy, Govt of India.
India’s Parliament House is the hub of policy and politics in the country. It sees Ministers from all states and constituencies who chart the future course of the country by debating and deciding on matters of public policy. Therefore when the Government wanted to highlight green sources of energy, LANCO Solar Energy Pvt. Ltd was selected to set up and operate an 80 KwP solar power plant in the Parliament Annexe. Their Rooftop PV energy solution has been running successfully for over four months now, and generates upto 400 units of electricity on a daily basis. It has become a showcase of how green energies can be harnessed as a solution to India’s growing power problem.

LANCO Solar was awarded the contract to build, operate and maintain an 80 KwP Solar Photovoltaic Rooftop Power Plant in the Parliament House Annexe by the Punjab Energy Development Agency or PEDA, which was the nodal agency under the guidance of MNRE.

Encourages use of solar energy in Government projects
It serves as a showcase of how green energy can be used in various government projects as a viable option while constructing residential and commercial spaces. Lanco has already signed a power purchase agreement for 35 MW solar PV project in Gujarat under the state power policy. This is one of the largest such projects in Gujarat and in India. Out of this 5 MW has already been successfully completed. It is also building a 75 MW crystalline based solar PV power project in Dhule district, Maharashtra. This is in line with LANCO’s aspiration of emerging as the leading developer and turnkey EPC service provider in the country. 100 MW of solar thermal in Rajasthan is under development by Lanco Solar.
