Maha Govt issues detailed notification for Dharavi redevelopment project

The Maharashtra government has issue a detailed notification that build the way for Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) or similarly for any other public authority to undertake such a challenging as well as delayed project of one or more of the five sectors of Dharavi biggest slum across the Asia.
On 3rd Jan just before the election code of conduct came into force the Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan had nnounced to restart the much delayed 1500 crores Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP).
The detailed notification comprises the details like hutments, chawls, commercial establishments and cessed buildings in the 535-acre shanty town will be redeveloped using an FSI of four through “the developer to be appointed by following competitive bidding process or through public authority”.
Whereas, all slumdwellers those are living in structures prior to year 2000 will be liable for self-contained 300 sq ft one bedroom apartments with balcony. Apart from this those are staying in shanties presently will be eligible for 400sq ft house and 100sq ft extra will have to purchase as construction cost. According to the senior official of government said that “only occupant of shanty will be eligible for new house not the owner of the shanty.”
