Metro and Monorail to get Hi-Tech security
By Pallavii Pitale
To ensure the safety and security of the passengers, The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has decided to provide Hi-Tech security to the Metro and Monorail stations.
It will be achieved through a global standard security system with the state – of – the- art technology which would include, access controls, intrusion, detection systems, CCTVs, Hotlines and trained security personnel etc.
MMRDA has planned the entire Hi-Tech security facility for Metro and Monorail stations. The stations shall have a central surveillance system which would be connected to a security control room to track every movement at the stations. The coaches shall have CCTV cameras installed inside to keep a tight vigil on the daily proceedings and for commuter supervision.
An advanced passenger-driver communication system shall allow commuters to communicate with the driver in case of an emergency.
Both Metro Rail corridor at Versova – Andheri – Ghatkopar and the Monorail shall be complete by the next year. Keeping this in mind, MMRDA is thinking of consulting foreign agencies dealing with Hi-Tech security solutions.
