Metro in Nagpur by the end of 2016

When it comes to infrastructures state government has always neglected the Nagpur and Vidarbha and given the short end of the stick. This time state government has brought big news for Nagpurians by approving Metro rail project.
Nagpur city which is the second capital of Maharashtra state has now entered into the race of metro cities. According to the senior officials, the work of metro rail network in the city is likely to be start in the January 2013 and will get completed by the end of the 2016 if there are no hurdles in the project.
The metro link will be 25km long from Sitabuldi to Butibori via Mihan. The cost of the project is Rs 1,250 crore. It will run partly on an elevated corridor and the remaining will be on-ground, sources said.
