MMRDA approved revised cost of SCLR project

The much awaited Santacruz Chembur Link Road (SCLR) project has got approval. On this Wednesday MMRDA’s executive committee, spearheaded by the chief secretary Ratnakar Gaikwad, approved a revision in its cost estimates.
The approved SCLR project’s estimated cost is Rs.110crore, the project is also a part of the World Bank-financed Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP).there are several reasons for delay in completion of project such as resettlement of the project affected people (PAP), elimination of hurdles, and make changes in design for a certain section along the 6.4 km long stretch.
The project has been started in 2005 and supposed to be completed by the end of 2009 but still it is pending. In these five years duration project’s cost has been increased to 114crore from 110crore. On the expert committees report MMRDA authority has sanction the revisedcost of SCLR project of Rs 176 crore, a further 22% escalation.
