MMRDA increases pace to complete JVLR
Mumbai, June 17, 2010: In a move to fast track the Jogeshwari-Vikroli Link Road (JVLR), Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has appointed Mahabal Environment, an expert to conduct the noise pollution survey to install noise barriers along the 1.6km stretch of IIT, Powai. MMRDA further has also appointed Prime Infra Projects Ltd, to construct Foot over Bridge (FOB) at the Main gate as well as the Market gate of IIT to facilitate pedestrians crossing the newly developed roads.
The authority is also constructing a connecting bridge across the water mains in the IIT campus joining the North and South ends. The bridge, which will be 35 meter long and 12 meter wide, will also extend the IIT. For its institutional expansion the work of construction of the bridge is about to start soon as the approved design is received from MCGM. Apart from this, MMRDA also deposited Rs 1.16 crore towards the reallocation of access road /its utility services long back to be done by IIT Powai.
MMRDA is building the infrastructure in lieu of 10,000 square meters of land given by IIT for the widening the Jogeshwari-Vikroli Link Road-II.
“We are happy to return the favour to IIT as their contribution and cooperation will lead to faster completion of JVLR” said Mr. SVR Srinivas, Additional Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA.
IIT has handed over about 9000 sq mtr land to MMRDA for the JVLR-II and only a strip of 400 mtr land is held back for which efforts at top level is being made for the speedy completion of JVLR.
