MMRDA sends letters to 164 SCLR affected people to sign MoU
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has sent letters to 164 flat owners, who are affected by the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR), to sign Memorandum of Understanding – as per the consent terms filed before the High Court – to vacate 13 MHADA buildings in Tilak Nagar peacefully and pave way for speedy completion of the SCLR project. They are requested to sign the MoU on November 4, 5 and 6, 2009.
In all 260 flat owners from the 13 MHADA buildings are affected by the SCLR project, out of which 96 had already signed MoUs with the MMRDA. However, the remaining 164 aggrieved flat owners had filed a petition in the High Court. The petition was resolved after filing consent terms on October 15, 2009 before the High Court, according to which the 164 affected flat owners were expected to sign MoU with MMRDA within 15 days and in turn MMRDA will hand over a DD for Rs.2,64,000/- each to the flat owners in the LIG buildings and Rs.3,36,000/- each to the flat owners in the MIG buildings. As none of the 164 flat owners turned up to sign MoU till October 29, 2009, MMRDA has sent a letter dated October 30, 2009 to the flat owners requesting to sign MoUs on November 4, 5 and 6, 2009.
“We are sure, the flat owners will cooperate with us and help set the SCLR project up in fast forward mode only in the interest of this vibrant city of Mumbai”, said Mr.Ratnakar Gaikwad, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA.
As per the consent terms, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority will construct new buildings on another MHADA plot which is adjoining the present one to house all 260 SCLR affected flat owners.
