MMRDA to rehabilitate 325 PAPs in Vile Parle
Work at Milan ROB to proceed according to plan
Mumbai, May 03, 2010 – To expedite work on the Milan Road Over Bridge (ROB), the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has decided to resettle 325 project affected persons (PAPs) at Vile Parle Plot No. 398, on the land provided by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai. The PAPs had requested the MMRDA to rehabilitate them in the surrounding vicinity. As per their request, MCGM has handed over the land in Vile Parle from to MMRDA. MMRDA has already started preliminary work for the construction of the building.
In the mean time to shift these PAPs temporarily, MCGM has recently given an NOC to construct transit quarters for these PAP’s on plot no: 1825 in Vile Parle. “The preliminary work for these transit quarters has already begun and will be ready soon. Work on the connectivity of Milan ROB to the Western Express Highway service road is expected to begin once the Project affected Persons are rehabilitated,” said Ms Ashwini Bhide, Joint Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA.
The estimated cost of the bridge is Rs. 41.50 crore. The length of the Milan ROB is 700 metre. The bridge has 2 carriageways and each carriageway has 2 lanes connecting SV Road and Western Express Highway service road. The pier and pier cap work is in progress.
The objective of this project is to allow free flow of traffic especially in the monsoon period since the subway is clogged due to flooding. This flyover will provide commuters easy access between the S V Road and the Western Express highway service road.
