Invites tenders for annual desalting of Mithi and Vakola Nullah
Mumbai, May 1, 2011 – The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is all set to combat with heavy rains, high tides and related issues as it invites tenders for the pre-monsoon desalting of Mithi River, Vakola Nullah and few other nullahs in ‘H’ and ‘I’ Blocks in the Bandra-Kurla Complex. The 30crore rupees work is undertaken with a view to improve the overall discharging capacity of Mithi.
The tender documents are available with the Executive Engineer (MRW), MMRDA Bldg., 3rd floor, Bandra-Kurla Complex, Bandra-East, Mumbai. The last date for submitting sealed tender documents is May 11, 2011 on which day the tenders will be opened.
“It is pertinent to note that the Mithi has not raised its ugly head ever since the Authority undertook the challenge of cleaning, desalting, widening and deepening in the year 2006. The overall capacity of Mithi to hold, carry and discharge water has increased by 1.5 times since. We have also constructed a 7-km long retaining wall along Mithi”, said Mr.Dilip Kawathkar, Joint Project Director (PR), MMRDA.
