More than 40 firms show overwhelming interest in MTHL’s study

Mumbai, May, 2011 – The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has been receiving overwhelming response to the proposal it floated inviting tenders from global consultancy firms for the techno-economic feasibility study of the Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link (MTHL). Close to one hundred consultancy firms have made enquiries and more than forty firms have sought for the tender documents. Significantly, all this has happened within a period of only ten days from issuing the invitations through publications.
It would also be pertinent to note that the proposed date of pre-bid meeting is May 12, 2011 and the last date to receive tender documents is slated to be June 15, 2011.
The global firms that have come forward and sought for the tender documents include M/s. SMEC, an Australian company that provides consultancy services for infrastructure projects; M/s. SNC-Lavalin Group Inc., a Canadian Engineering Co.; M/s. Dar Consultants (U.K.) Limited; M/s. Ernst & Young, M/s. KPMG, M/s. L&T Ramboll Engineering Consultancy firm, M/s. Herbert Smith Group, UK; M/s. STUP Consultants Pvt. Ltd., an Indo-French Civil Engineering, Architectural and PMS consultancy firm; M/s. Consulting Engineers Services India; M/s. SOWiL Limited, M/s. Louis Berger Group and M/s. Darashaw & Company Pvt. Ltd.
The Authority will appoint the Project Management Consultants by August 1, 2011.
The 22-km creek bridge – from the sea front at Sewri to Chirle, connecting NH-4B – is certain to provide much easier connectivity to the city of Mumbai and also expected to offer economical growth to the whole of Raigad District and its surrounding areas.
