MTHL Bridge is likely to open in 6years: MMRDA
On Wednesday Rahul Asthana, commissioner, Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA), said that Mumbai Trans Harbor Link six lane bridge which will bridge the gap between south Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, will be open for public in the coming six years. “MMRDA will assign the 12000cr project by September 2012 and building work will take 54months time to complete” he added. The bridge will connect south Mumbai to Pune Expressway and also connect to the new international airport being built in Navi Mumbai. MMRDA planning to handover this project to the private builders. Whereas, if private companies do not take role into this then MMRDA will continue with this construction process, according to Mr. Asthana.
Mr.Rahul Asthana visited to MTHL site along with the senior officials from MMRDA as also CIDCO for the technical clearance and as MMRDA wants to acquire peace of land on both the side of the bridge.
MMRDA has also proposed to extend the underground portion of the Metro 3 project and is awaiting a decision in a few days, he said. Metro 3, which will connect Colaba to Versova, was initially planned to run underground till Mahalaxmi.
