Sikkim in India to have Buddha Eco Park

The cities and towns in the North- Eastern regions of India are slowly developing and coming up with architectural marvels that are based on Green design aspects.

A first of it’s kind project in the state of Sikkim and probably in the country , The Buddha Eco Park is being developed in Rabong, a small sub divisional town in south Sikkim.

The project is worth 3228 lakh is being implemented by the Government of Sikkim under the scheme known as the ‘Sakyamuni project’. The Buddha Eco Park shall be developed on more than 20 acres of land that includes landscaping, with musical fountains and facility for the pilgrims as well as the tourists that include a meditation hall, congregational hall, an interpretation hall, library , an amphitheatre, administrative and commercial units, cafeterias and accommodations for the visitors, enough parking and other infrastructural facilities. With the green technology, the park is said to help conserve the Bio- diversity of the place.

The park shall have a tallest statue of Buddha in a sitting position that is 95 ft tall with the base being almost 35 ft reaching the total height up to 130 ft.

About 25 workers from the nearby regions are creating this statue that shall be dismantled over completion in parts and shall be assembled again on the base when ready.

Sikkim, being already famous as a hill station, this project shall bring in various other potentials and new opportunities for the region on the national as well as international level.
