State govt. introduces affordable housing for urban poor

Mumbai: On this Tuesday minister of state for housing and urban poverty alleviation Kumari Selja said that “state govt. is going to introduce special affordable housing scheme for urban poor people.” As more than 60% of our GDP is contributed by urban India. So following to this we have to plan for the betterment of and sustainable growth of urban India, Selja said after inaugurating a conclave on urban poverty alleviation and Rajiv Awas Yojana in the city.
In the current state, approximately we need 6.53million dwelling units in the, of which Maharashtra accounts for 3.72 million.
Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan was also present in that conclave, he said that “we have to make some robust policies for the betterment of the urban areas and how to use it without violating eco norms.”
